Description
Poppy lovers come from all over Southern California each spring to see the annual sea of golden blossoms at the reserve.
The California Poppy was named the state flower in 1903. Prior to that time great fields of poppies were found throughout the state. Today, while poppies grow in many areas, the only large fields left are in the western Antelope Valley in the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. The State Reserve covers 1800 acres nestled in the Antelope Buttes 15 miles west of Lancaster, California.
