Royal Terns at Malibu Lagoon State Beach
The royal tern has a red-orange bill and a black cap during the breeding season, in the winter the cap becomes patchy. The royal tern is found in America, Europe and Africa. The Royal Tern lives on the coast and is only found near salt water.
The average Royal Tern has a wing span of 51 inches, 18 to 21 inches in length and weighs 12 to 16 ounces.
