Artist's Description

This collection of black and white images of Morro Bay was taken in the summer of 1979.

Franklin Riley founded Morro Bay in 1870 as a port for the export of dairy and ranch products. He was instrumental in the building of a wharf that has now become the Embarcadero.
During the 1870s, schooners could often be seen at the Embarcadero picking up wool, potatoes, barley, and dairy products.
Tourism is the city's largest industry, coexisting with the town's commercial fishery.

About Gene Parks

Gene Parks

I am a retired Information Technology Project Manager located in Santa Monica, California. I’ve loved photography and started taking photos in the late 1970s. With a full time, job, I had little time to enjoy my passion for photography. I will shoot anything (with Canon or Sony) that produces an emotional reaction. I'm self-taught and began to take my photography seriously in 2006. Retirement has given me an opportunity to follow my grandson and shoot photos of him playing basketball and having some of my photos published in sport magazines. Welcome to my gallery, enjoy my photos presented for your viewing pleasure and purchase. Thanks Gene “PapaG” Parks All images are copyright by Gene Parks. All The materials contained...
