Toni, thank you so much for your kind words and sharing your very personal connection to this historical place. I am heartbroken that we have lost another icon from our past. I was just there in June and was planning another trip this month for images after the leaves fall from the trees. I would visit Paramount every three od four months, sometime for the solitude. I’ve always loved the old west. Raised in Arkansas, my horse was 6 months old when I was born… a gift from my grandfather. As soon as it is safe, I will make a trip there to assess the damage. I hope some of it was spared.

The National Park Service hopes to rebuild Western Town at Paramount Ranch within two years. **

Welcome To Paramount Ranch And Wild West Movie Location
In 1927, Paramount Studios purchased a 2,700-acre ranch on Medea Creek in the Santa Monica Mountains, between Malibu, California and the Conejo Valley. The studio built numerous large-scale sets on the ranch, including a huge replica of early San Francisco and an Old West town. It posed as Tombstone, Arizona and Dodge City, Kansas, as well as Tom Sawyer's Missouri, 13th-century China, and many other locales and eras around the world.
It is now Paramount Ranch Park in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
The location remains an active filming area.

About Gene Parks

Gene Parks

I am a retired Information Technology Project Manager located in Santa Monica, California. I’ve loved photography and started taking photos in the late 1970s. With a full time, job, I had little time to enjoy my passion for photography. I will shoot anything (with Canon or Sony) that produces an emotional reaction. I'm self-taught and began to take my photography seriously in 2006. Retirement has given me an opportunity to follow my grandson and shoot photos of him playing basketball and having some of my photos published in sport magazines. Welcome to my gallery, enjoy my photos presented for your viewing pleasure and purchase. Thanks Gene “PapaG” Parks All images are copyright by Gene Parks. All The materials contained...
